Haemata provided expert advice in the redesign of the organisational strucutre based on streamlining management and support services while implementing a sustainable delivery systems for students.

The Opportunity
As a result of the covid pandemic, Literacy Aotearoa faced a reduction in income and a change in the delivery environment.
In response, the organisation prioritised maintaining frontline tutorial capacity to ensure learners continued to receive quality tuition and support. To achieve this, a strategic effort was made to streamline support and management structures where possible, enabling resources to be focused on sustaining essential teaching and learning delivery.
Our Response
Haemata undertook a diagnostic review of existing organisational design and operational practice, and supported the development of a new organisational structure. This included leading the staff consultation process, developing consultation documentation, collating and analysing staff feedback, preparing Board briefing papers, and supporting the development of updated job descriptions.
The Outcome
With the review and approval of the Board, a new organisational structure was successfully implemented across the organisation.
The Conclusion
Overall, this work supported a significant organisational transformation grounded in evidence-based analysis, meaningful engagement, and strong governance processes. The combination of diagnostic insight, collaborative consultation, and structured design enabled the development of a future-focused organisational structure that was both strategically aligned and operationally robust. Its successful approval and implementation by the Board reflects the effectiveness of the process and the strength of the technical and facilitation expertise applied throughout this project.
