Miriama has had a long-term career in the education sector in a variety of roles, including a 19-year tenure as Tumuaki of a Kura Kaupapa Māori Te Aho Matua. She has also been involved in a range of Ministry of Education contracts, as both a manager and facilitator. 

Miriama has provided one-on-one cultural capability guidance for senior leaders, facilitating Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Māori workshops, delivering Haemata’s te reo Māori language programmes both online and face-to-face, staff engagement projects, as well as coordinating online support spaces for professionals.
